Every deprivation is an opportunity to learn — learn from and about yourself, learn about the world you live in, learn about your past and possible future.
Nothing presents itself more profoundly than deprivation; it’s a kind of energy so strong that there are only two possibilities that it offers, both extreme, terrifying or exhilarating: it can obliterate you or exalt you. Deprivation can shut you down or energise you. There’s only your own make — and how well you understand it — and your preparedness that can throw you in one direction or the other.
Remember the last time you were deprived?
